A small inland lake on Coron Island, accessible by a short climb over a karst ridge from the boat anchorage. Barracuda Lake is one of the Philippines' most unusual dive sites: a steep-walled, deep crater lake with multiple thermoclines, dramatic underwater rock formations, and (occasionally) a single resident barracuda that gives the lake its name.
Even for non-divers it is a striking place to swim. The water is glass-clear and slightly brackish. The fifteen-minute climb over the rock with dive gear is the hardest part of the trip; bring sturdy shoes.
