Snake Island

Snake Island is named not for its fauna but for its shape — at low tide a long, curving sandbar emerges from the sea to link two small islets, making an "S" of perfectly white sand. At high tide most of the bar disappears underwater. The viewpoint on the larger island, reached by a steep ten-minute scramble, gives the best overall view of the Bacuit Archipelago.

This is a standard stop on Tour B. Bring water shoes — the sandbar is hot at midday and the shells underfoot can be sharp — and a hat. There is no shade.
