Xiangshan Park sits at the base of the Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan) hiking trail, the most popular short climb in Taipei. The park itself is a quiet, leafy strip with ponds and pavilions wedged between the residential edge of Xinyi and the wooded hillside; for most people it is the gateway to the stone staircase that climbs in about twenty minutes to the famous boulder viewpoint over Taipei 101.
Come late in the afternoon to climb in the cooler hours and catch the towers lighting up at dusk. The park is a two-minute walk from Xiangshan metro station, the eastern terminus of the red line.
