Lake Borabay is a cool, wooded escape from Amasya's river-valley cityscape. The landslide lake lies near Tasova in the Black Sea mountains, ringed by forest and set up as a nature park rather than a resort, so the pleasure is mostly walking, picnicking, and watching the light change on the water.
It is not a quick stop in the old town; you need a car or a deliberate excursion. That distance is part of the appeal, especially in hot weather, but it also means Lake Borabay makes sense only if you want a slow half-day in the hills.
