The Column of Julian is a slim Roman survival in Ulus, traditionally associated with Emperor Julian's visit to ancient Ancyra in the 4th century. In a modern capital that often foregrounds the republic, it is a useful reminder that Ankara's urban story is much older.
The column is a quick stop, best seen while walking between the Roman Baths, Hacı Bayram Mosque, and the old citadel area. Its appeal is not size but continuity: one vertical marker from the Roman city still standing in the busy centre of Turkish Ankara.
