The main market, sprawling just east of the Bibi-Khanym Mosque. This is where Samarkand's famous non bread is baked and sold — enormous round loaves stamped with decorative patterns, stacked in towers. The dried fruit and nut section is exceptional: apricots, almonds, walnuts, and raisins at prices that make you want to fill a suitcase. Come in the morning when it is busiest.
