Dinh III — the third and most personal of Emperor Bảo Đại's Dalat residences — is a cream-coloured Art Deco villa built in 1938 on a pine-forested hill in the south of the city. Bảo Đại, Vietnam's last emperor, used it as a summer retreat and hunting lodge. The interior has been preserved largely as he left it: original furniture, hunting trophies, family photographs, and the emperor's personal study. The modest scale and human touches make it more interesting than a formal palace. The hilltop setting among pines adds to the atmosphere. Entrance includes access to the grounds.
