Dalat's central market — Chợ Đà Lạt — is the best food market in the Central Highlands and a genuinely useful place to understand what makes this city different from lowland Vietnam. The ground floor is a labyrinth of produce stalls selling strawberries, artichokes, avocados, persimmons, and flowers grown on the surrounding hillsides. The upper floors have dry goods, clothing, and souvenirs. The market operates all day but is liveliest in the early morning when farmers from the surrounding districts bring in fresh produce. The night market sets up on the streets outside from around 6pm, with grilled food stalls and hot soy milk vendors that draw the evening crowds.
