Elizabeth Farm is one of the oldest surviving European buildings in Australia. Begun in 1793 as the home of John and Elizabeth Macarthur, it became closely tied to the early wool industry and to the social life of the colony.
The house is presented as a lived-in homestead rather than a roped-off museum. Deep verandahs, recreated interiors, portraits, and household objects make it easier to imagine how a powerful colonial family lived on the edge of early Sydney.
