The Enmore is Sydney's grand old room for live music, a 1908 theatre at the southern end of Newtown's strip that has become the city's favourite mid-size venue. With a capacity around 2,500 and a sprung floor that has held up to decades of dancing, it hosts touring bands, comedians and one-off shows in a setting that is faded, intimate and beloved — the kind of place where the crowd is part of the experience.
It is the oldest continuously operating live entertainment venue in the city, and a gig here is one of the better nights out in Sydney. The surrounding stretch of Enmore Road has filled in around it with bars and late-night eats, making it easy to make an evening of it.
