Lake Parramatta is a bush-fringed reservoir and recreation area in western Sydney, formed by damming one of the creeks that feeds the Parramatta River. It is a useful change of pace from the harbour city: more local, quieter, and better for a slow walk than a photo stop.
There are several short bushwalks around the lake, and swimming is allowed only when the council opens the water for supervised sessions. Check conditions before planning a swim.
