The Hysen Pasha Mosque, also known as the Clock Mosque (Xhamia e Sahatit) after the clock tower that once stood alongside it, sits in the Gorica quarter on the river's western bank. Built in the 18th century, it is a late Ottoman structure with more decorative ambition than the simple lead-domed mosque in Mangalem. The clock tower is gone, but the building itself is intact and in use.
The mosque is within easy reach of the Gorica Bridge, making it a natural addition to a walk through the Christian quarter. Its presence across the river from the primarily Muslim Mangalem quarter illustrates the mixed religious character of Berat — a town where mosques, tekkes, and Orthodox churches stand within a few hundred metres of each other and coexisted for centuries.
