Eboardmuseum

A surprising and entirely unexpected sight on the southern edge of Klagenfurt, the Eboardmuseum is a private collection of more than 1,500 electronic keyboards, from early Hammond organs and Wurlitzers to vintage synthesisers, drum machines, and 1980s rarities used by famous bands.

The owner gives the tour himself and is a delight if you have any interest in music; he is happy to demonstrate the instruments. Booking ahead is essential — the museum is run as a one-man show and is not open on a fixed schedule.

A story
Founded by the Austrian musician Gert Prix, the museum is reckoned to hold the world's largest collection of electronic keyboards. The standout pieces include a 1929 Hammond Organ prototype, an original Mellotron of the kind used on Strawberry Fields Forever, and a wall of Moogs that visitors are sometimes invited to play.
