Linz's main art museum, in a long glass building directly on the Danube promenade, next door to the Ars Electronica Center. The collection focuses on Austrian and international art from the late nineteenth century to the present: Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka, and a solid contemporary section. The building won considerable attention when it opened in 2003 — at night the translucent walls glow from within, making it one of the more photogenic spots along the riverfront. The permanent collection is well laid out and not overwhelming.
