Museum of Fine Arts (MSK)

Major Ghent art museum in Citadelpark, showing Flemish masters, modernists, and the Altarpiece restoration.

The Museum of Fine Arts, usually shortened to MSK, is Ghent's heavyweight art museum in Citadelpark. Its collection moves from medieval and early modern Flemish painting through European sculpture and 19th- and 20th-century work, with names such as Bosch, Rubens, Ensor, Rodin, and Magritte giving the galleries real range.

It pairs well with S.M.A.K. across the park if you want a full art day, but MSK is the broader and more historical of the two. The visible restoration work on panels of the Ghent Altarpiece adds a rare chance to see conservation treated as part of the visit rather than hidden behind museum doors.
