Čiovo Island

Čiovo island is connected to Trogir's old town by a road bridge and stretches 15km eastward into the Adriatic. It is largely residential and agricultural, with villages of old stone houses, olive groves, and a string of rocky coves along the southern shore. The northern coast faces toward Trogir and Split; the southern coast faces open sea and has cleaner water.

The village of Okrug Gornji on the western end of Čiovo is a popular summer resort, with a long pebbly beach and a pleasant promenade. From there you can walk or drive along the southern coast to find quieter coves that don't appear in the resort brochures. The views back across the strait toward Trogir's old town towers are particularly good in the late afternoon light.
