Danish Architecture Centre

The Danish Architecture Centre (DAC) is housed in BLOX, an ambitious mixed-use building from 2018 designed by the Dutch firm OMA. The building sits on the waterfront next to the Black Diamond, a complex of interconnected volumes that cantilevers dramatically over a busy road and provides a public route between the harbour and the city.

The DAC's permanent exhibition covers Danish architecture from the Middle Ages to the present, with particular strength on the modernist period and contemporary Danish design. Temporary exhibitions focus on specific architects, building types, or urban challenges. The building itself is the best argument for the centre's existence — it is one of the most interesting new buildings in Copenhagen and provokes the kind of discussion about architecture that the DAC exists to encourage.
