Morgenstedet (the Morning Place) is Christiania's best-loved vegetarian restaurant — a low-key wooden dining room that has been feeding commune members and visitors for decades. The menu is simple and changes daily: whatever is available, often organic and locally sourced, served as a single communal meal at shared tables.
It is one of the cheapest full meals you can get in Copenhagen, and the food is good. No menu in English, no fuss about it. Arrive around noon or early afternoon — it tends to fill up and runs out of food. The setting inside Christiania, surrounded by murals and irregular architecture, makes the experience feel a long way from the rest of the city even though it is a few minutes' walk from Christianshavn.
