The E45 motorway crosses Vejle Fjord on a cable-stayed bridge that has become one of the most recognisable landmarks in Jutland. The main span is around 600 metres and the pylons rise to 100 metres; from the water or the opposite shore the bridge reads cleanly against the wooded hillsides behind it. Construction finished in 1980 and a parallel bridge was added in 1996 to carry the growing traffic.
You cannot walk across the bridge — it carries motorway traffic only — but it is visible from multiple points around the fjord. The best viewing angles are from the waterfront in Vejle itself and from the Munkebjerg ridge to the south. On a calm day the twin pylons reflect in the water. If you are arriving by car from the south on the E45, the crossing gives a good first glimpse of the fjord landscape before you reach the town.
