Vejle Museum of Art

Vejle's art museum occupies a building on the hillside above the town centre, with good views across the rooftops toward the fjord. The permanent collection focuses on Danish art from the nineteenth century to the present, with particular strength in the Skagen painters and Danish modernism. The museum also runs a changing programme of temporary exhibitions, typically three or four per year, that bring in work from outside Denmark.

The building itself is worth noting — it was expanded and renovated to create a more coherent sequence of spaces, and the interplay between the older structure and the newer additions is handled thoughtfully. The museum café is a decent stop for lunch or coffee, with terrace seating when the weather allows. Entry fees apply; check vejlemuseerne.dk for current opening times and exhibitions.
