The windmill stands on Møllebanken, the ridge immediately north of the town centre, and the walk up from the old town takes around ten minutes on foot. The mill itself is a well-preserved nineteenth-century post mill — the whole body rotates to face the wind — and has been restored to working condition. On open days it operates under sail and the interior is accessible.
The main draw, however, is the view from the hill. From the top of the ridge you can see across the town centre, the fjord, and the wooded slopes on the opposite bank. It is the best elevated viewpoint in Vejle and requires no more effort than a short climb on a footpath. The surrounding Møllebakken park is pleasant for a walk in its own right.
