Vejle punches above its weight for a town of 60,000. The compelling combination is the UNESCO-listed Jelling Stones just outside town and, back in Vejle itself, the strange spectacle of an Iron Age woman preserved in peat and displayed in a church wall. Add striking modern architecture on the waterfront, good hiking in the surrounding hills and valleys, and you have a day's solid exploring at minimum.
