Muhos Church is one of Finland's oldest wooden churches, completed in 1634, and an easy historical detour from Oulu if you are following the river inland. Its tall, narrow tower gives the building a leaner silhouette than many later Finnish timber churches.
The church is not lavish, but that is part of its appeal. It is a rare surviving piece of early 17th-century rural Finland, still standing in a working parish rather than behind museum glass.
