The covered market hall on the harbour, dating from 1903, is a smaller and less polished cousin of the Helsinki and Turku market halls but the same in spirit — a long, low brick building with rows of butchers, fishmongers, bakers, and cafes opening on a central aisle.
A good lunch stop. The fish counter sells the local cold-smoked salmon and whitefish; several stalls do bowls of poronkäristys (sautéed reindeer with mashed potato).
