Pikisaari

A small island just south of the centre, reached by a short bridge, that escaped the wartime bombing and so contains the oldest surviving wooden houses in Oulu — some from the early 18th century. The island now houses arts and crafts workshops, small galleries, and a couple of pleasant summer cafes.

A 15-minute walk takes in the whole island. Worth combining with a stop at the cafe in the old Pikisaari schoolhouse.
