Snowmobiles are the workhorses of Lapland and the fastest way to cover ground in winter. Operators in Saariselkä run anything from a one-hour spin to full-day expeditions into the wilderness, often combined with a stop at a reindeer or husky farm, a fishing hut on a frozen lake, or a smoke sauna.
A driving licence is required to drive your own machine (passengers ride free). The standard tour pairs two people per snowmobile and lets riders swap. Routes follow the dedicated snowmobile tracks — riding off-track in the national park is prohibited.
