Europa-Park Resort

Germany's biggest theme-park resort, built around Europa-Park and the Rulantica water world.

Europa-Park Resort is the reason most travellers come to Rust. The village is pleasant enough, but the destination is the resort: Germany's largest theme park, a full-scale indoor water world, a cluster of themed hotels, evening shows, and enough rides to make a rushed day feel slightly foolish.

Europa-Park is the main draw. Its lands are themed around European countries, which sounds gimmicky until you realise how much care has gone into the streets, facades, food stalls, dark rides, and coasters. It is big, polished, and busy in peak season, so arrive early and choose a few headline rides instead of trying to cover everything.

Rulantica gives the resort a second full-day anchor, especially in bad weather or outside the main theme-park season. Families can easily spend two days here without running out of things to do. Travellers without children may still enjoy the engineering and theatre of it all, but this is not a subtle place: it is loud, efficient, expensive, and very good at what it sets out to do.
