Grabkapelle Wurttemberg is a royal mausoleum on a vine-covered hill above Stuttgart, built by King Wilhelm I in memory of Queen Katharina. Its pale classical dome is visible from around the Neckar valley and feels far removed from the busy city below.
The site is as much about the setting as the building. Go for the architecture, the royal story, and the views over vineyards and villages; it is one of Stuttgart's most atmospheric short excursions.
