Kriegsbergturm

Small 1895 sandstone lookout tower on Stuttgart's Kriegsberg hill

Kriegsbergturm is a compact sandstone lookout tower on the Kriegsberg, built in 1895 by Stuttgart's beautification society. It looks almost storybook-small beside the city's larger viewpoints, but its Romanesque details and hillside setting make it a pleasant architectural oddity.

The tower is not an everyday climb; openings are limited and often tied to volunteer schedules or special dates. Even when it is closed, the surrounding green slope gives a quieter north-side view of Stuttgart than the better-known television tower or Killesberg, and it pairs well with a walk through the residential streets above the centre.
