Kulturforum is West Berlin's postwar cultural quarter, built near the former Wall as a counterpart to the museums and concert halls left in the historic centre. The area gathers several major institutions, including the Philharmonie, the Neue Nationalgalerie, and the Gemäldegalerie.
The buildings are spread out rather than cosy, but the concentration of art, music, and modern architecture makes this one of Berlin's best stops for museum-heavy days.
