St.-Hedwigs-Kathedrale stands beside Bebelplatz and Unter den Linden, a domed Catholic cathedral from the mid-18th century. It is one of Berlin's most important Catholic churches, and its round form gives it a different feel from the city's more familiar Protestant churches and neoclassical museums.
The interior was rebuilt in a modern style after wartime damage, so the visit is as much about postwar Berlin as Baroque Berlin. It fits naturally into a walk between Museum Island, the State Opera, and the memorials around Bebelplatz.
