Agia Paraskevi Church

The parish church of Agia Paraskevi, just off the main square, is a single-aisled basilica with a richly painted interior. The frescoes are post-Byzantine, of a quality you would not expect in so small a settlement, and the carved wooden iconostasis is one of the finest of its kind in northern Greece — gilded, painted, and worked with vines, birds and biblical scenes.

The church is generally open in the mornings and again in the late afternoon. Dress modestly and remember that this remains very much an active parish; if a service is in progress, watch quietly from the back.
