Papalimani is one of Thassos' smaller beach stops, valued for clear, shallow water and a gentler atmosphere than the island's more famous strands. Pines come close enough to soften the heat, and the beach works particularly well for families or swimmers who prefer calm water to surf and drama.
It is not the island's wildest or most spectacular beach, but it is easy to like. Arrive early in high season if you want a quieter patch of sand, and treat it as one beach among several along the coast rather than the only plan for the day. A car makes hopping between nearby beaches much simpler.
