The Hadik was the great literary café of interwar Buda, the regular table of writer Frigyes Karinthy and his circle, and its 2011 revival did much to kick-start the rebirth of Bartók Béla Boulevard as Újbuda's creative spine. The restored room keeps the old café-house feel — high ceilings, marble tables, newspapers on racks — while the kitchen turns out a confident modern Hungarian menu.
Across the street the affiliated Szatyor bar carries the same crowd into the evening with cocktails and a more bohemian mood. Together they make the natural starting point for an afternoon working down the boulevard's galleries and coffee shops.
