Carrauntoohil is Ireland's highest mountain and the big prize for hikers based around Killarney. The climb rises from the MacGillycuddy's Reeks, with rough terrain, fast-changing weather and views that, on a clear day, justify every metre of effort.
This is not a casual tourist path. Choose a route that matches your experience, check conditions, and consider a guide if you are not used to Irish mountain weather. For capable walkers, it is one of the strongest outdoor days in County Kerry.
