Crespi d'Adda is a remarkably intact company town built by a textile dynasty beside the Adda River. Houses, factory buildings, church, school and cemetery were planned as a complete industrial village, making the place feel both orderly and faintly eerie in the way model settlements often do.
Although it sits outside Bergamo, it is one of the strongest industrial heritage trips in the area and is recognised by UNESCO. Walk the streets slowly and look at the relationship between factory, workers' homes and the owners' monumental architecture; the whole village is the exhibit.
