Cordici Museum

The Cordici Museum — named after the 17th-century humanist Antonio Cordici who assembled much of the original collection — is Erice's civic museum, housed in the Palazzo Municipale at the top of the main square. The collection covers the full depth of Erice's history: Elymian pottery and artefacts from the pre-Greek period, Greek and Roman coins, medieval objects, and paintings from the 15th to 18th centuries.

The highlight of the collection is a marble head of Aphrodite from the 4th century BC — one of the most important objects from the ancient sanctuary on the mountaintop. It's a small museum but focused, and gives essential context for understanding what you are standing on when you walk Erice's streets.
