Canazei is the uppermost village in Val di Fassa, sitting at about 1,460 metres at the foot of the Marmolada glacier — the highest peak in the Dolomites. It is the valley's main hub for both winter skiing and summer hiking, with lifts connecting to the Sella Ronda circuit and the Marmolada glacier ski area. In summer, walkers and via ferrata climbers use it as a base for routes into the Sella group, up to Sass Pordoi and Piz Boè, and toward Passo Pordoi.
