The Funivia Trento-Sardagna is a short, dramatic cable car that climbs from the bank of the Adige river — close to the railway station, walkable from the old town — to the cliff-top hamlet of Sardagna, 250 metres above the city. The trip takes four minutes and reveals Trento as a long, narrow ribbon of red roofs between mountain walls.
Sardagna itself is a sleepy collection of stone houses with a single cafe and a few hiking trails, and is the access point for the road up Monte Bondone. The cable car runs every 15 to 30 minutes throughout the day and is one of the cheapest spectacular views in Italy.
