Sint Joriskerk

Sint Joriskerk is the large church on Hof, the main square of old Amersfoort. Its position makes it hard to miss: terraces and market life gather around the church, while the medieval streets and canals of the old centre radiate away from it.

The interior was fully restored in 2011 and is worth stepping into if the doors are open. Together with the freestanding Lange Jan tower and the Muurhuizen, it helps explain why Amersfoort feels like a complete medieval city rather than just a pretty stop between Utrecht and Amsterdam.
