A shrine to the Dutch truck and car maker, with over 120 vehicles on display from the company's century-long history. Even if you are not a car enthusiast, the story of DAF's Variomatic transmission and its unlikely foray into passenger cars is genuinely interesting. Tongelresestraat 27.

A story
DAF's Variomatic was the world's first fully automatic transmission for passenger cars — a continuously variable belt drive invented by Hub and Wim van Doorne in 1958. It was an engineering oddity with a notable side effect: a DAF 600 could go exactly as fast in reverse as it could going forward, which led to a short-lived craze of DAF backwards racing in the 1960s and 70s. The museum has examples of both the cars and the racing.
