Philips Museum
Philips history from light bulbs to electronics in the original factory
A story
In 1891, Gerard Philips and his father Frederik opened a small factory on Emmasingel to manufacture incandescent light bulbs. Within twenty years Philips was the largest employer in Eindhoven and the company had built housing, schools, sports facilities, and eventually a concert hall for its workers — effectively running a parallel city alongside the official one. The original factory building, now the museum, is where that transformation began.
