Effenaar

Eindhoven's main music venue, in the heart of the city centre near Stratumseind, with a main hall capacity of around 1,400 and a smaller room for club nights and emerging acts. The programming is broad: international touring acts, Dutch bands, electronic nights, and occasional theatre. It is the city's most reliable source of live music.

The venue is a ten-minute walk from Eindhoven Centraal station. Check the website for current listings. Tickets for smaller shows can often be bought on the door, but popular acts sell out well in advance.

A story
The original Effenaar opened in 1971 in a former factory building and became one of the most important venues for Dutch rock and punk during the 1970s and 80s. When the building was demolished and a new venue built on a nearby site, the programming continuity was maintained: the Effenaar has been Eindhoven's primary music venue for over fifty years, covering genres from pop and rock to hip-hop and electronic music.
