The last remaining jenever (Dutch gin) distillery in The Hague, operating since 1842 in a building that looks like it hasn't changed since. The small museum and tasting room display original copper stills, antique bottles, and the tools of the distiller's trade. A visit includes a tasting of several varieties of jenever and liqueurs, produced on site.
Van Kleef is charmingly uncommercialized — this is not a slick brand experience but a genuine working distillery that happens to let visitors in. The jenever is excellent, especially the oude (aged) variety. Located on Lange Beestenmarkt, near the centre. A good stop before or after dinner in the area.
