Paushuize

Early-16th-century house built for Utrecht-born Pope Adrian VI.

Paushuize was built in 1517 for Adrianus VI, the only Dutch pope and the last non-Italian pope until John Paul II. The house is a compact reminder of Utrecht's religious and political reach in the early 16th century.

Today it is mostly used for events, so the main value for most visitors is the exterior and the story. It is close to Utrecht's cathedral quarter and easy to fold into a walk around the old centre.
