Stadhuisbrug

Stadhuisbrug is one of the best-known crossings over Utrecht's Oudegracht. It was formed in 1547 by vaulting the space between two older bridges, the Huidenbrug and the Broodbrug, creating a broad civic space in the middle of the old town.

The bridge works less like a narrow crossing and more like a small square, with the canal, city hall, shops, and cafe terraces all around it. It is a useful pause while walking between the Dom area and the wharf-level streets along the Oudegracht.
