Eidfjordvatnet lies just inland from the village, a long lake squeezed between steep slopes on the way to Øvre Eidfjord. It is easy to rush past on the road to Vøringsfossen, but the still water and mountain reflections deserve a pause.
Look for safe pull-offs and walking options rather than stopping carelessly on the road. In calm weather, the lake gives one of the gentlest scenes in an otherwise dramatic valley.
