Emeryk Hutten-Czapski Museum

Branch of the National Museum in a 19th-century villa housing coins, medals, and decorative arts

A branch of the National Museum housed in the count's former villa and its garden pavilion, near the main National Museum building. Beyond the celebrated coins and medals it holds rare prints, manuscripts and old maps, and the restored interiors give a sense of a wealthy 19th-century collector's world.

A story
Count Czapski (1828-1896) assembled one of Europe's great coin collections, and the museum's pavilion was purpose-built to display it; the numismatic cabinet traces the history of Polish money from the first silver pennies of the Piast dynasty.
