The Former Senate and Synod Building is an Empire-style landmark by Carl Rossi and A. E. Shtaubert, built in 1829-1834 near Senate Square. It later housed the Russian State Historical Archive and is now used by the Constitutional Court, so the main reason to stop is the exterior architecture and its place in the monumental ensemble around the Bronze Horseman and St Isaac's Cathedral.
