Literary Quarter

A small district of preserved 19th-century wooden houses and brick mansions north of Lenin Avenue, around Ulitsa Tolmacheva. Six writers' museums sit within a few blocks of each other, dedicated to Mamin-Sibiryak, Bazhov and others who lived and worked in the Urals.

The streets here are quiet, tree-lined, and feel a century older than the rest of the city. A pleasant area for an afternoon's wander, with cafes occupying restored merchant houses.
